Labels4kids launches new adult brand to meet demand

One of the UK’s biggest suppliers of personalised labels and products is targeting expansion to meet a growing demand from the care homes market.

Stirling-based Labels4Kids, launched in 2004 to provide labelling for children’s clothes, school bags and lunch boxes, has developed into a successful e-commerce business for multiple sectors around the world.

It is preparing to launch a new marque, Labels4Brands, to service a range of other sectors including fashion brands, sports clubs, care homes and other organisations with uniformed staff.

The company’s founder, Australian-born Ann-Maree Morrison, who started the business after becoming frustrated at mixing-up her children’s rugby kits, plans to increase its capacity in the next 12 months to handle the additional work.A new website is being built with the capability of processing multiple orders.

The former chartered accountant aims to achieve 30% growth in 2017 from a number of sectors including care homes, where its products are used to help prevent elderly residents, many suffering from dementia, from losing or mislaying their belongings.

Ann-Maree said: “We are pleased with the growth of the business so far but there are markets we have yet to fully exploit.

“The market for children’s products is well establish but it’s not just kids who lose their belongings and there’s a growing demand for labelling and personalised products for adults.

“We’ve seen a significant rise in the number of care homes approaching us because of problems of residents’ belongings becoming mixed-up or lost, particularly in the laundry.

“The range of products we’ve developed for children can easily be adapted for this market and so, as well as personalising clothing for care home residents, we’re also able to provide effective labelling for things like glasses and glasses cases, toothbrushes and watches.”

Labels4Kids started as a producer of personalised, vinyl name labels and other identification products for a range of purposes: to identify children’s clothes, school bags and lunch boxes, as well as to label equipment, work uniforms and sports kit.

Together with Labels4Brands, it now sells a wider variety of products for people of all ages using a range of different materials including iron-on, sew-on and clip-on and stick-on clothing labels as well as dishwasher and microwave proof vinyl labels, ID wristbands, personalised clothing, gifts, books and toys, personalised school and sports equipment, bag tags, gym and boot bags.

The company’s website is translated into five languages to cater for overseas client base in Spain, Germany, Sweden, France, Switzerland, North America and Australia.
